CHOOSING DP DOG TRAINING:
When you choose DP Dog Training, Not only will your dog get the training outlined in the program you choose, you get an education!
You and your family will have an understanding about dog behavior. Understanding the dog as the animal first, as the breed next and finally as your dog are essential in dog ownership.
A line of communication will be opened between you and your dog! This is how your dog becomes a mentally balanced animal and trusted family member.
There are many different techniques to train dogs, but having a clear understanding from the dogs' point of view is everything!
This is where DP Dog Training is separated from the rest!
All our programs always include many tips and suggestions, as well as an education from behavior to nutrition!

DOG OWNERSHIP 101:
This 2 hour course is designed to help you, the dog owner to bring your dog up happy and healthy. We will come to your home for a one-time visit where we will help you "set-up" your home and establish a program for your new pup.
During this visit, we encourage the presence of all family members where we will discuss many topics such as dog-proofing your home, scheduling, nutrition, crate training, housebreaking, proper play games, toys, socialization, and what you can expect from your pup as it grows.
Lots of invaluable information packed in a two-hour session!

POSITIVE PUPPY TRAINING:
This four-week course for puppies from 12 weeks to 16 weeks old is based on positive motivation using food and voice.
It is full of important tips and suggestions! The course is designed to put puppies through the first phase of obedience training, the LEARNING PHASE.
During the four weeks, the pup will learn the commands, "sit", "down", "come" and "place" (go to).
It is a perfect and natural pre-requisite to the follow up basic obedience course.

POSITIVE PUPPY FOLLOWUP:
This three-week course starts when the pup reaches about 5 months of age.
It begins the CORRECTION PHASE of training.
We will add the behaviors, Heel (with auto-sit) and stay. The previous learned behaviors: sit, down, and come will be covered using techniques encompassed in the correction phase of training. |

BASIC OBEDIENCE PROGRAM:
The Basic Obedience Program is DP Dog Training's most popular! This five-week program is for dogs starting at about five months of age, and takes place at your home. It is designed to put the dog trough the first and second phase of training,
the LEARNING PHASE AND THE CORRECTION PHASE.
Each session is about one hour. During this five-week program we will teach your dog the basic commands: "sit"(auto-sit) "heel", "stay", "down," and "come", as well as "no" and "ok." We will also show you how to implement other commands that you would like your dog to learn, like "Quiet", "Leave it", "Drop", "Settle" etc. We address behavioral problems like jumping, chewing, nipping, excessive barking, stealing, etc. as well as give you as many important suggestions as you need to bring up a happy and healthy dog!

ADVANCED
OBEDIENCE PROGRAM:
This program can be custom-designed to suit the needs of you, the dog owner, or a natural progression to the basic obedience course, where now the dog will go through the Proofing or Distraction Phase of training. Once your dog has successfully completed the Basic Obedience Program, or otherwise prove that he/she already knows the basic obedience commands, we will train your dog on a more advanced level, as you see fit.
Single lessons or a package plan can be accommodated. Most popular requests include: on lead with distraction, Hand signals, performing commands from a distance, long stay from sit and down, and the finish. An intro to off lead, the jumps and the retrieve can be covered.back to 'List of Programs' |

HOUSEBREAKING CONSULTATIONS AND SINGLE LESSONS:
Single visits to your home to teach housebreaking as well as discuss any issues you would like, or teach a particular behavior important to you.

BEHAVIOR
EVALUATION AND REHABILITATION:
Evaluations are free when you bring the dog to me!
Do you have specific behavioral problems with your dog? Let us evaluate the situation and determine what the reason may be. Unfortunately, most of the time it is the owner that precipitates the behavior problems dogs develop. We offer per lesson sessions to rehabilitate or modify your dog's behavior. We will teach you how and why it happened, and how you can keep your dog mentally healthy. Let us help you with your aggressive dog.

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREPERATION:
So, you think your dog would make a great therapy dog? You think your dog could spread a little joy to children and older people by bringing him to Hospitals, retirement homes etc. Well the CGC is your first step. We will prepare the dog to pass the 10 steps required to achieve his CGC certificate! You can read about the CGC here.
Some owners who have a dog with the CGC certificate have an easier time with house rentals as well as homeowner insurance!
But there's no better feeling than watching the love and happiness your dog could spread to people all over!

PET
SITTING:
Angela has been in the pet care business for 5 years. Her love for animals insures her clients they will get the best in love and care. Her 5 years working at the Suffern Animal Hospital have given her invaluable experience with many different animals and breeds.
Angela's experience includes animals such as dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles, fish, and ferrets. Angela's services include dog walking, pet sitting, pet care including administrating of medications (injections), feeding, watering and playtime.
Daily or multiple visits can be arranged. Angela is available 24 hours a day all year long including holidays.
