Although well intentioned, veterinarian’s advice to not let puppies out until they are fully vaccinated is really inappropriate. The mother’s colostrums protect the pup for a little while anyway, so inoculations at eight or nine weeks of age are a waste.

Just be careful the pup doesn’t encounter strange adult dogs as yet. Let the pup get some size and confidence first and avoid dog parks. We also recommend that your pup is not walked on dirty streets where he can drink from puddles or pick up something in his mouth.

When it comes to socializing your pup so that they grow up to be well adjusted adult dogs, remember the “Seven” rule, “By the time your pup is 7 weeks old he should meet seven new people, eat from seven different types of food dishes, play on 7 types of surfaces and visit seven different places.”

Any and all positive experiences for your puppy are good experiences and as your puppy responds to our Morris County puppy training, you will find it much easier as your puppy grows up and matures.
